fishy, frozen, rigid,
flavorless chicken as
the only option
to make this long-time missed drunken chicken
for my professor’s Chinese New Year's Eve party
Boiled, cleaned, cooled,
squeezed into a container,
using a whole bottle of yellow wine,
and return to the refrigerator,
for another marinated night
at the party
she drinks various things
two red, three white, bottles of beer, mugs of iced vodka, pre-made cocktails
she seems drunk
telling me, this drunken chicken
tastes totally wrong to her memory
i know this without getting drunk
but later we all become drunk
including the chicken
for another new year
away
